It is a polycrystalline, high purity noble metal (platinum, gold or palladium) in a form of a square plate available in five sizes: 5 x 5 x 0.5 mm3, 7 x 7 x 0.5 mm3, 10 x 10 x 0.5 mm3, 15 x 15 x 0.5 mm3and 25 x 25 x 1 mm3for platinum and gold, and 5 x 5 x 0.3 mm3,7 x 7 x 0.3 mm3, 10 x 10 x 0.3 mm3, 15 x 15 x 0.3 mm3and 25 x 25 x 0.3 mm3forpalladium(other sizes available on request). Noble metals (i.e.gold and platinum-group metals) are recognized as being superior to other metallic electrode materials due to their stability under electrochemical conditions in aqueous and organic environments.
Noble metal plates as electrodes find application in a broad range of electrochemical processes because of their high electrical conductivity, mechanical stability, and resistance to chemical attack. There are also commonly used as current collectors for thin films characterization.
After use the noble metal plate can be chemically cleaned and mechanically polished using micro-sized abrasives (e.g. using sub-micron alumina powder) followed by sonication. The noble metal plates can be used repeatedly.
Available sizes: 5 x 5 mm2, 7 x 7 mm2, 10 x 10 mm2, 15 x 15 mm2, 25 x 25 mm2
